Generap Purpose Rating (GPR) Pre Sea Training is a 6-month diploma course for the rating position on-board Ship that anyone can go for after passing out 10th or 12th. Even students with commerce as a subject in 12th can go for the course. Students need to appear for the entrance exam and interview at the college.
If successful, you can score an opportunity to join the merchant shipping in the Deck or Engineering Department. This course is approved by the Directorate General of Shipping, Ministry of Shipping, Government of India.
With combined syllabus of all Deck and Engineering subjects, the training program also includes various physical drills, rope and mast climbing, swimming, fire fighting exercises, life saving appliances usage, workshop training and ship visits. This course will give you a preview of how life is on a merchant ship.
GP Rating (Pre Sea Training) is a six months residential course approved by D.G Shipping (Govt of India). GP Rating syllabus includes combined study of Deck and Engineering subjects. This course will cover all aspects of the seafaring profession (Deck and Engine), which also include swimming, physical drills, workshop training, rope and mast climbing, lifesaving appliances usage, fire fighting exercises and ship visits etc.
